Healthtrac Program Overview

Program Description

Healthtrac offers cost-effective need and demand reduction programs to managed care organizations (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kaiser, Health Systems International, etc.) and employers throughout the US. Programs are sold internationally through franchise and partnership arrangements. The individual participant pays nothing.

The Basic program is designed for employees and their adult dependents. Additional program are Senior Healthtrac (for retirees) and Babytrac (for women who are pregnant or who are planning a pregnancy). We recently implemented a High Risk program for those with chronic conditions or lifestyle risk factors which portend potential high costs in the near term.

Health risk data is acquired through carefully-validated health assessment questionnaires, repeated at regular intervals. Computer files are serially-linked, enabling reinforcement of progress, recognition of change, and program evaluation. Individual feedback is provided in the form of personalized letters. Graphic reports display progress over time.

Deliverables include the self-care guide, Take Care of Yourself, proven-effective to reduce unnecessary medical care use and costs. Books, pamphlets, video tapes, and audio tapes are provided, as determined by individual needs.

This application presents newly-released results from extensive evaluation studies of both the Babytrac and the High Risk programs, published studies of the effectiveness and cost savings in the arthritis and Parkinson's Disease modules, and development of algorithms which identify high cost/risk individuals.
